Potty training progress

Well, we've been at it for 4 months now and potty training is proceeding quite nicely. While I had heard about potty training books that claim it can be done in a day, etc., I think the slow and steady way is the right approach for us. There was a period of about 3 weeks where we resisted going on the potty at all, despite our coaxing, bribing, etc. Not sure what caused that, but we seem to be back on track now.

Sabrina's former day care center got things started for us as soon as she turned 2 and was promoted to the "2's room". We started with the pull-up diapers a couple of months afterwards (once she started at Montessori preschool) and now we're religiously having her sit on the potty every 1-2 hours during waking hours. At night we've stuck with a traditional diapers, as I discovered that the pull-ups weren't intended to hold that much.

Alas, we haven't gotten to the point where we regularly tells us she has to go (either #1 or #2), but I'm hoping that will start soon. I showed her some little panties that I bought and she really wants to start wearing them; I keep telling her that once she starts telling us she has to go potty and doesn't need diapers anymore, she can start wearing them.

Today she did say she needed to go potty, and Gene went with her into the bathroom. A few minutes later, Gene says "Joanna: Sabrina needs her mommy!" I walk in there to discover some "poopie" in the potty. Gee, thanks Honey! ;)
