Pink Eye & Antibiotics

It turns out Miss Sabrina has a case of pink eye. We took her to the pediatrician on Tuesday and the doc confirmed it and prescribed some Erythromycin ointment to put in both eyes 3-4 times per day. Easier said than done! The only instructions we were given was to pull down her lower lid and put the ointment there. Okkkkkayyyy. We knew it would be a challenge because Sabrina doesn't particularly like having anything unusual done to her (suctioning her nose, cleaning her ears, etc.). So we anticipated the squirming and arm flailing, but have you ever tried to pull down an infant's lower eye lid? It's nearly impossible because there isn't much of a lid to pull down on... not to mention, her eyes were squeezed shut nice and tightly when she realized we were going to do something unusual. Her first clue was probably Gene holding her head stationary while she reclined on a pillow! Anyway, I have no idea how of much of that stuff ever made it into her eye versus her eyelashes, eye brows, etc. Hopefully at least a significant amount. I ended up putting it in the inner corner of her eye, hoping that when she was brave enough to open them again, some would 'flow' in there.
