Just the 3 Of Us

Get a glimpse into our world as we go from 2 to 3 family members!

Stop the presses!

Sabrina surprised us both last night. She finished up a bottle (4 ounces) around 9:30 pm last night and after the required 30-minute upright period, we put her down around 10:00 pm. I went to sleep soon thereafter (had to finish watching Kitchen Nightmares first). Do you know that I didn't hear a peep from her until 3:57 am?? And even then it was just a whimper, not an outright crying episode. That's a 6-hour stretch!!! A new record! It's likely a fluke at this stage and not the start of a new trend, but just to know that it's in her to do that and indeed a possibility for the future is exciting :) You go girl!

I think the Prevacid is working because she doesn't seem to be in pain/screaming nearly as much as before. In addition, she is spitting up a lot less. The GI doc said that the Prevacid should help her discomfort, but not reduce the spitting up/throwing up. We also discovered a way to administer the twice-daily dose without her immediately spitting it out, like she did for the Zantac (we never knew how much she would really ingest). What we do is load up the 2 syringes of the liquid Prevacid and prepare a normal bottle of formula. Once she latches onto the bottle and sucks at a regular pace, we insert a syringe along the nipple and at the same depth. As she sucks, we depress the plunger and out comes the medicine and she can't even sense it among the formula and down the hatch it goes. Repeat with the 2nd syringe. We then pull out the bottle and set it aside (we're supposed to administer the meds 30 minutes before the feeding for best results).
