Yesterday we attended a BBQ in Harper's Ferry, WV, at the home of one of Gene's colleagues. It was an hour and a half drive each way so we were careful to time it so that Sabrina was fed just before leaving (she eats every 2 hours). She usually does really well in the car, opting to sleep versus looking out the window... as long as the vehicle is in motion! She somehow wakes up when we're idling or stuck at long red lights.
The weather was perfect - in the low 80's and very low humidity. We stayed on the covered porch most of the time since she's not yet really supposed to be in the sun. Of course Sabrina garnered much attention at the event, which had about 30 people in attendance. It was great to be able to introduce her to Gene's colleagues. We stayed about 3 1/2 hours before hitting the road to come home.
As some of you know, Sabrina's been struggling with occasional bouts of constipation, which we think may be causing some of the fussiness/pain she goes through each evening. Well, we get about 15 minutes from home and she begins crying inconsolably. I reach back and let her grasp my finger so she knows she's not alone -- doesn't seem to help calm her. And wouldn't you know it -- we hit every single red light from that point until our house! Anyway, it turns out the cause of the crying was a loaded diaper. It had been about 38 hours since her last one, and we were relieved (and we assume Sabrina was too!).
